Dos por ciento
2024
Dos por ciento is a photographic project that proposes an experimental approach to the relationship between territory and tourism, focused on the coastline of Gran Canaria. Throughout the process, the author has instinctively captured the landscape, documenting the impact of tourism on this fragile environment. As the project unfolds, the emerging images reveal a chaotic and disordered reality, where the territory faces a visible process of exhaustion.
The creative process relies on the use of digital editing software that is not designed to combine images coherently. Starting with 20 photographs, the program randomly stacks the images, generating unpredictable and fragmented results that reflect the chaotic nature of territorial and architectural planning in the area. In this way, the unexpected and chance become key elements, defining the final aesthetic of the piece.
This approach, where software errors and randomness take control, allows the creative process to break free from conventions and offers a new perspective on the touristic landscape of the Canary Islands. The resulting images are visual collages that combine fragments of reality with an almost apocalyptic aesthetic, creating a dialogue between territory, tourism, and architecture.
